I thought I knew my guests. A family walks into Fusion Arena—mum, dad, three kids. In my head, I’m expecting an adventure game or an escape room. Instead, they ask for the toughest zombie shooter we have. Why? Because they love The Walking Dead. The whole family. I was stunned.
That was one of those moments that reminds me: families don’t fit into neat boxes.
No clichés, no stereotypes
Fusion Arena isn’t a kids’ entertainment park and it isn’t a hardcore gaming hangout. It’s both—and everything in between. What a family wants to experience is up to the family. We provide the system; they write the story.
Which virtual reality system, which age?
We work with two systems:
- TrueVRSystems: Full-body VR with 4D effects like wind and warmth, from age 10 and a height of 135 cm
- Genzone VR: Controller-based VR, multiplayer from age 7, no minimum height
That means almost any family can join in—from a first-grader to grandma. What matters is being willing to try something new.
What research says
An analysis of 31 studies (PMC, 2024) shows: VR supports children’s social and emotional learning particularly effectively—because it’s immersive, physical, and experienced together. The so-called co-presence phenomenon—the feeling of truly being somewhere together—is stronger in full-body VR than on any screen. In short: the family experiences something—rather than everyone doing their own thing.
Why it works as a family outing
- No prior knowledge needed—neither for kids nor for parents
- No passive screen time—the whole body is active
- Laugh together, get scared together, win together
- You choose the adventure—from treasure hunt to zombie apocalypse
